    About our program

In order to become “good” businesses entrepreneurs are looking for information and guidance that will enable them to develop as humane and ecologically sustainable, with the ability to meet high ethical standards, generate customer loyalty and meet the ESG regulatory requirements and be competitive in the emerging business environment (European Academy of Management, 2022).

The aim of the intervention is to develop the awareness, understanding, attitude and skills business entrepreneurs need to think and act in ways that benefit themselves, others, their community, the wider society and the environment.   It has been developed by working closely with entrepreneurs and others within the entrepreneur eco-system.  It draws upon both the lived experience of entrepreneurs acting in ways that they defined as being prosocial, and the experiences, insights and views of those supporting entrepreneurs including business advisers, business networks, universities and colleges and commercial trainers and coaches.

    • Has adopted a structured approach.
    • Has been designed to have a practical application by addressing immediate problems AND looking to the future.
    • Has been designed to support the entrepreneur journey by encouraging and supporting acts of transformational behaviour.
    • Includes diagnostic activities, opportunities for experiential learning and reflection and vignettes describing where entrepreneurs have used different behaviours.
    • Makes use of social media with links to websites, podcasts etc.
    • Takes account of the ways in which the world is changing and is linked to the 2030 agenda.
    • Acknowledges the important role of finances and explores the relationship between profit and social impact.

Those who act for the benefit of others and society, in general, are defined as being prosocial. The approach that has been used in designing this intervention involved:

    • building upon an acknowledged appetite for change in the way entrepreneurs’ learning and development is offered with the intention of being part of the ecosystem of entrepreneur support
    • encouraging open communication from key stakeholders, becoming embedded in the entrepreneur eco-system, and by letting go of preconceived ideas about entrepreneurship.
    • acknowledging the challenges of acting in ways that are prosocial and that some people see tensions between making a profit and acting in ways that are prosocial.
    • defining the place of social values within entrepreneurship by drawing upon the lived experience of entrepreneurs, past present and future included recognising the pressures and challenges faced by entrepreneur.
    • normalising mindfulness in business settings and linking it to prosocial behaviour.
